Class KeyPairGeneratorAdapter

Known Direct Subclasses:
DHKeyPairGeneratorSpi, DSSKeyPairGeneratorSpi, RSAKeyPairGeneratorSpi

public abstract class KeyPairGeneratorAdapter
extends KeyPairGenerator

The implementation of a generic KeyPairGenerator adapter class to wrap GNU keypair generator instances.

This class defines the Service Provider Interface (SPI) for the KeyPairGenerator class, which is used to generate pairs of public and private keys.

All the abstract methods in the KeyPairGeneratorSpi class are implemented by this class and all its sub-classes.

In case the client does not explicitly initialize the KeyPairGenerator (via a call to an initialize() method), the GNU provider supplies (and document) default values to be used. For example, the GNU provider uses a default modulus size (keysize) of 1024 bits for the DSS (Digital Signature Standard) a.k.a DSA.

Field Details

adaptee

protected IKeyPairGenerator adaptee
Our underlying keypair instance.

Constructor Details

KeyPairGeneratorAdapter

protected KeyPairGeneratorAdapter(String kpgName)
Trivial protected constructor.
Parameters:
kpgName - the canonical name of the keypair generator algorithm.

Method Details

generateKeyPair

public KeyPair generateKeyPair()
Generates a KeyPair according the rules for the algorithm. Unless intialized, algorithm defaults will be used. It creates a unique key pair each time.
Overrides:
generateKeyPair in interface KeyPairGenerator
Returns:
a key pair

initialize

public abstract void initialize(int keysize,
                                SecureRandom random)
Initialize the KeyPairGeneratorSpi with the specified key size and source of randomness
Overrides:
initialize in interface KeyPairGenerator
Parameters:
keysize - size of the key to generate
random - A SecureRandom source of randomness

initialize

public abstract void initialize(AlgorithmParameterSpec params,
                                SecureRandom random)
            throws InvalidAlgorithmParameterException
Initialize the KeyPairGeneratorSpi with the specified AlgorithmParameterSpec and source of randomness This is a concrete method. It may be overridden by the provider and if the AlgorithmParameterSpec class is invalid throw InvalidAlgorithmParameterException. By default this method just throws UnsupportedOperationException.
Overrides:
initialize in interface KeyPairGenerator
Parameters:
params - A AlgorithmParameterSpec to intialize with
random - A SecureRandom source of randomness
